IMPORTANT: Safer Internet Day

Good Morning All,

Tomorrow is Safer Internet day. Each morning this week I will be sending out some information or a piece of advice about how you can keep yourself safe online. Please take a moment to read the information below, Years 7 – 11 you will have a quiz at the end of the week!

Online safety advice -  Monday:

Don’t befriend people online that you don’t know in ‘real life’, remember not everyone is who they say they are! People can lie and share images which do not belong to them. Think to yourself ‘Would I walk up to someone I didn’t know in the street and start talking to them?’

What can you do to protect yourself and your friends:

  • Look at your privacy settings, ensure strangers cannot get in contact with you or see your pictures or videos.
  • If a stranger messages you, block them straight away.  If you are worried speak to parents/carers, a trusted adult or a member of staff from school. Remember you can also report users to the Social media platform.
  • If a friend is planning to meet up with a stranger tell a trusted adult straight away, this could be your parents/carers, other family members or a member of staff from school. They are putting themselves at SERIOUS risk.

*If you need any further advice or need to report any online safety issues you can contact/speak to:

I hope you all have a great week!

Kind Regards,

Miss Hankers
