Pearson AAQ Level 3 BTEC in IT

This is an A Level equivalent course and is worth the same UCAS points as any other A Level course.

The Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification BTEC National in Information Technology (Extended Certificate) provides students with a solid foundation in the essential principles and practices of Information Technology. The course explores the role of IT systems in modern organisations, including the ethical and social implications of their use, as well as current and emerging cyber-security threats and how to effectively manage and mitigate them.

Students will also develop valuable technical skills by designing and building websites tailored to specific user requirements and by creating and managing relational database solutions. The qualification consists of two externally examined units and two internally assessed coursework units, enabling students to apply their knowledge through hands-on, practical tasks.

In today’s digital world, ICT skills are vital across almost every industry. From business and healthcare to engineering and creative media, employers increasingly seek individuals who can confidently use technology to solve problems, manage data, communicate effectively, and innovate. This course equips students with the digital literacy and technical expertise needed to succeed in a wide range of future careers or continue their studies in higher education.
